Scanner

Summary: 
  • Electronically scan UPC codes of cases, label cases, stack cases, and prepare pallets for proper loading, according to shipping instructions.  
Essential Functions: 
  • Set up scanner and load paper in printer as needed.
  • Builds slip sheets for shipping by scanning I.D. stickers on box to shipping case label.
  • Builds slip sheets to appropriate specifications for loading onto trucks.
  • Affix pallet ticket to appropriate slip sheet after goods have been wrapped.
  • Affix shipping label to prepacked cases.
  • Set up computer by customer and load number, scan cases to truck.
  • Report and record shortages to Lead and/or supervisor.
  • Notify shipping clerk or other appropriate personnel the status of the load.
Education and/or Experience: 
  • No prior experience or training.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to managers and other employees of the organization.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; bend; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, and occasionally lifting and moving up to 40 pounds is required.
  • The employee may occasionally climb stairs to different floor levels.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • The environment is heated and cooled, but is exposed to heat and cold as influenced by seasonal temperature extremes.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Ear plugs are required.
