Twister Operator

Summary: 
Operates the Twisting Machine by performing the essential functions of the job safely and efficiently.
Essential Functions: 
  • Check work area at the beginning of each shift for any housekeeping or safety issues.  Report findings to Lead Person.
  • Check manufacturing work orders to verify the merge/lot, tube color, chalk mark, and type yarn being processed on the assigned Twisters.
  • Check yarn in the creel and in the bucket for correct merge and type as listed on the manufacturing order.
  • Load doffing carts with correct yarn as listed on the manufacturing order.
  • Doff twister as scheduled.  On the doff, check each position for proper merge and type, proper thread up and the position is clean and package of yarn is of good quality.  Place piece tubes removed from buckets into creel or in proper carrier. Mark each package with chalk mark as listed on the manufacturing order.  Pull tails on doffed packages and clip. Complete I.D. cards with correct information and place on container.
  • Creel twisters as needed or specified by Lead Person.  Check each tube for proper merge and type when creeled and when empty tube is removed from the creel.  Place empty tubes in the proper containers.
  • Patrol assigned job during doffing and creeling throughout the shift, repairing down ends and inspecting quality.
  • Clean up waste and off quality yarn by properly identifying, weighing and recording.
  • Wipe off assigned machines and sweep area each day before shift ends.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Education and/or Experience: 
  • Ability to read and write control information from manufacturing order.

Physical Demands: 
  • Ability to stand/walk for the duration of shift except during breaks.
  • Ability to lift packages weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
