Heat Set Operator

Summary: 
Operates the Superba Heat Set Machine by performing the essential functions of the job safely and efficiently.
Essential Functions: 
  • Check work area at the begining of each shift for any housekeeping or safety issues and report to Lead Person.
  • Check manufacturing work orders to verify the merge/lot, tube color, chalk mark, and type yarn being processed on the asigned Superba.
  • Check creels for crossed yarn and transfer tails for good splices.
  • Patrol assigned machine (creels and winder), keeping each position creeled and verifying transfer tails are spliced properly on each position, checking the winder for chokes and improper winding.
  • Notify fixer of any position not performing properly.
  • Record each doff on the doff report.
  • Check each package of yarn loaded onto creel and each package doffed off the winder for quality problems and properly tie off tails.
  • Properly identify each package of yarn produced with correct label and chalk mark.
  • Change yarn on machine as directed by Lead Person.
  • Clean up waste and any off quality yarn by properly identifying, weighing and recording.
  • Wipe off assigned machines and sweep area each day before shift ends.
  • Other duties as assigned by management..
Education and/or Experience: 
No prior experience for training. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short corresponcences, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.
Physical Demands: 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel: reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include normal vision, close vision and color vision.   While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The noise level in the work enviroment is usually moderate.
