Maintenance Mechanic

Summary: 
Repairs and maintains machinery and process equipment.  This position requires the ability to troubleshoot and repair pneumatic and hydraulic equipment and controls.  The work requires training and knowledge of multiple crafts such as mechanical, electrical, millwright, welding, and/or pipe fitting.  The candidate should also have knowledge of hand tools and power tools to perform job tasks.
Essential Functions: 
  • Follows safety rules and applies safe work practices.
  • Dismantle, remove, or relocate equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment such as conveyors, pumps, air compressors, dye equipment, boilers, heating and air handling, presses, lighting, ovens, and dyers.
  • Follow preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Adjust machinery to ensure proper performance.
  • Visually inspect and test machinery using electrical and electronic test equipment.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Install, rebuild or replace electrical parts such as contactors, motors, starters or wiring.
  • Read blue prints and schematics.
  • Ability to set up machine tools such as a lathe, milling machine, grinder, or drill press a plus.
  • Ability to operate a cutting torch and welder a plus.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Education and/or Experience: 
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
Licenses/Certificates: 
Valid driver's license required. Must provide current MVR and proof of personal auto insurance.
Physical Demands: 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel: reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.  The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; risk of electrical shock and vibration.
